Canola Oil May Reduce Belly Fat
There is increasing evidence that monounsaturated fat, such as found in canola oil, may be helpful for weight loss, says Dr. Peter Jones, director of the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals at the University of Manitoba. In a presentation at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in Orlando, Fla., he discussed the Canola Oil Multicenter Intervention Trial, which found that people with diets high in canola oil had less belly fat than those with diets high in polyunsaturated fats. The Canola Council of Canada helped fund the study.
