High-Oleic Canola Oil in Industry News

Food Business News reports that ConAgra Foods, producers of Fleischmann’s, Blue Bonnet, and Parkay, is removing partially hydrogenated oils (phos) in their spreads. This change complies with the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) regulation for all companies to remove phos (the main dietary source of manufactured trans fatty acids) from food products by June 2018. Colleen Bailey, brand director at ConAgra, says, “In one example, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (soybean and cottonseed) will be removed and replaced with high-oleic canola oil.”
