Consuming healthy fats like canola oil may help control excess weight gain during pregnancy. Nearly 75 percent of obese women put on too much weight during pregnancy and are more likely to retain almost half of that one year after childbirth. Just three teaspoons of healthy fat per day, along with eight servings of fruits and vegetables, six servings of whole grains and five ounces of protein may help control weight.
