Shunning All Fats Not the Answer

India has a rising demand for healthy food products, but some consumers are getting the wrong messages. Dr. Aashish Contractor, head of preventive cardiology at the Asian Heart Institute, said shunning fat altogether is not the answer to a healthy diet – rather one should watch caloric intake and limit saturated and trans fats. Making lifestyle changes by exercising regularly, eating healthfully and consuming a moderate amount of good fats – like the omega-3 and monounsaturated fats found in canola oil – are smart ideas.
