New research suggests certain nutrients can help keep your mind sharp and possibly even ward off dementia. Among these nutrients are omega-3 fats and vitamin E, both found in canola oil. "Omega-3 fatty acids protect the brain against oxidative stress," says a pharmacologist and professor of neurosurgery, and research from the Netherlands suggests vitamin E could reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
