In the Sept. 12 issue of TIME magazine, Dr. Mehmet Oz reviewed the latest scientific recommendations regarding diet and heart health, specifically noting canola oil as a heart-healthy option because of its high monounsaturated and omega-3 fat content. "Monounsaturated fats – canola oil and olive oil – have been found to lower LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) and raise HDL cholesterol (the good kind), thus reducing the risks of atherosclerosis and heart disease," Oz said.
