Demand for Omega-9 Canola Oil Grows

Source:, Category: Health & Nutrition

Several big names in the restaurant and food service industry, including A&W and Frito Lay, have switched to high-oleic Omega-9 Canola Oil in their food preparation. This spells good things for the Canadian canola industry; if Frito Lay were to switch all of its U.S. products to Omega-9 Oil (it already did in potato chips this year in Canada), the company would account for 10 percent of all canola crop demand in Canada. Industry experts say NEXERA™ canola – from which Omega-9 Oil is produced – could eventually make up 25 percent of all Canadian canola production.
