A New Deal for a New Canola Oil

Minneapolis-based Cargill and Germany-based BASF have agreed to a multi-year deal where they will develop and commercialize a new, genetically modified canola with omega-3 fat that is the "biochemical equivalent of fish oil," which research shows has many health benefits. The companies are hoping BASFÂs plant engineering capabilities combined with CargillÂs large presence in the food and oils industry can work together to get this product in the market by 2020.
