A study from the University of California-Los Angeles Easton Center for Alzheimer’s Disease Research shows people with diets deficient in omega-3 fatty acids were more susceptible to accelerated brain aging. The study examined the levels of the omega-3s eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in 1,575 people with an average age of 67. Canola oil, which contains the omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), was noted in an article about the study due the body’s ability to partially convert ALA to EPA and DHA.
