Love Your Heart Thanks to Canola Oil

With heart disease being the number one cause of death in the world, eating a heart-healthy diet is essential. A study released in May 2012 in Pediatrics showed that one in four adolescents has two or more of the following risk factors for heart disease: overweight or obese, high LDL cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes. A U.S. nutritionist offers “10 Ways to Love Your Heart” to help people reduce their risk of heart disease. One way is to add omega-3 fat to your diet by consuming canola oil. Additional sources of plant-based omega-3s include walnuts, flaxseed and tofu.
