College Students to Showcase Canola Oil

Food science students from three U.S. universities will showcase heart-healthy food products they developed, which are low in saturated fat and contain canola oil, at the Institute of Food Technologists’ (IFT’s) Wellness 13 Heart-Healthy Product Development Competition Feb. 27-28 in suburban Chicago. The finalist teams and their products are: Iowa State University with “SmHeart Bites,” a layered cottage cheese and berry snack; Rutgers University with “Herbilicious Crisps,” a crossover between chips and crackers; and the University of Arkansas with “Simply Heart,” a banana and cinnamon flavored breakfast bar.
