Getting the right types and amount of fat is essential to a proper diet. The Mitchell Advocate said that Canada’s Food Guide recommends having 30 mL to 45 mL of unsaturated fat each day, choosing olive, canola or soybean oils or non-hydrogenated margarines and to cut back on foods made with saturated and trans fats, such as butter, shortening and lard.
