Yes to Healthy Fat, No to No Fat

The idea of a healthy diet has shifted from consuming no fat to embracing healthy fat, observes registered dietitian Leslie Beck in her column in The Globe and Mail. The author discusses the benefits of healthy monounsaturated fat sources, such as canola oil: “Monounsaturated fats – plentiful in olive and canola oil, almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts and avocado – may help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol, raise HDL (good) cholesterol, reduce inflammation and, among people with diabetes, improve blood sugar control.”
