Eating Heart-Smart

February is American Heart Month and canola oil was touted as a heart smart option in two national U.S. media placements. Katherine Brooking, RD, recommends types of foods to eat for heart health, and highlights that canola oil has the lowest saturated fat content of popular cooking oils in this article on WebMD. Registered dietitian, Julie Upton, also speaks to the heart healthy properties of canola oil via the U.S. News & World Report. Upton notes that canola oil has the least saturated fat of any culinary oil – half that of olive oil – and is the most versatile plant-based oil for cooking and baking.
