Not So Fast, Butter

Butter is still the bad guy, but be careful what you eat instead, reports MSN.com. Results from a 30-year study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology show that when consumers remove saturated fat from their diets and replace it with healthier fats – such as canola oil – they reduce their risk of heart disease. Conversely, when saturated fat is replaced with low-quality carbohydrates, there is no benefit. "Our findings suggest that when patients are making lifestyle changes to their diets, cardiologists should encourage the consumption of unsaturated fats like vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds, as well as healthy carbohydrates” a study author says.
